Summertime...and the living is easy.

Summer always smells like freshly-cut grass for me.

And rain. 

Last week of summer vacation. 

Not so much of vacation for me. 

I've been an intern the whole summer.

I suppose the lazy, rain-splashing, cricket-hunting 

summer days are far behind now.

Random question:

What does summer smell like for you?

Oh, mi Dior...

I was one to really mourn Galliano's departure from Dior. 

His designs were pure genius and his runways were just raw drama. 

Can you imagine a movie directed by him? I sure do. 

After he left, we all know Dior had not been as good as it used to be, 

until the recent debut of Raf Simmons. 

His collection was simple but it still reeked of Dior 

with his new-and more architectural approach- 

to the iconic New Look,and of course, the flower-clad walls.

My favorite was this pale pink dress mis-matched with the blue heels.

Eveeeen though the  face came out kinda weird. 

What did you think of Raf Simmons's approach?

A Girl's Best Friend...

You know how they say "Diamonds are a girl's best friend"?

Well, I disagree.  A handbag is a girl's best friend.

Diamonds, while yes, they are, well...diamonds, 

don't serve another purpose than sitting on our neck 

or hanging from our earlobes and making us look pretty.

Handbags, on the other hand, not only compliment our outfits, 

but they come in our aid whenever we need it. They are both pretty and handy.

A good handbag is reliable,  and if treated right, it can last forever. 

Just like a best friend.

And who wouldn't like a best friend like this pink Céline bag? 

I'm sure I would.

Chiara's sequined leggings were the best pretext 

to experiment with my new silver sharpie.

The color combination in that outfit is genius.

Learning to Fly

Magazines are always writing how a pair of heels can change an outfit, 

and bring a rush of empowerment. 

A dress, can give you wings too.

Ok, maybe not so literally like this McQueen, 

but the right dress can be as empowering a good pair of heels. 

Alexander McQueen's dresses are so much fun to paint.

This one in particular was.

Ever since I saw this picture of belgian model Hanne Gaby Odiele 

and her pink coat/cape I wanted to draw it and  last week I finally got to. 

Where can I get that coat?????

Red dress, take two.

I'm sort of having an affair with red lately. 

I already posted a red dress illustration a couple weeks ago, 

but truth be told, I like this one so much better.

"no rhymes, no embellishments"

Have you ever seen the movie "Atonement"?

If you haven't please proceed to your Netflix account 

(or nearest Blockbuster if that's the case) and for the love of god, WATCH IT! 

Ok, I have to admit that maybe this movie isn't for everyone. 

Some people find it rather slow, but that's alright, because every frame is a work of art. 

Each scene is impeccable and exquisite (I hate that word but I really can't find a better adjective), 

the colors and the lighting are as daunting as they are haunting, and the dress...

god, the  infamous green dress Keira Knightley 

wears near the beginning of the movie is just too perfect.  

I once read the silk was so pure and so fragile they had to 

 have an extra spare in case  the fabric tored, ripped or something.  

This green dress is what Scarlett O'Hara's  green dress 

 was  back in the   Gone With The Wind Days. 

Heck-it may just even be  more beautiful than Audrey's Givenchy 

black dress from the opening scene of Breakfast at Tiffanys. 

Also, there's this amazing five-minute war sequence   that was made in one shot. 

It's just the kind of movie that when it ends you're just  like "fuck..." 

and that's all that you'll be able to say. 

It's the kind of movie that, if you're anything like me, stays with you for a while. 

Now, GO! watch!

all white is the new black

I love how an all white look looks. 

Too bad it's so hard to pull off and so high maintenance.

I've been  digging Jenni Kayne's collections lately. 

They're simple, but stylish.

the wetsuit trend

This year's spring/summer collections were all about (duh) summer. 

With some more literal underwater motifs than others, one of my favorite trends

was one of the least expected: the wetsuit trend, 

Learning how to scuba dive  has always been on my bucketlist. 

And with a wetsuit like this one, well, I'd jump into the water right here and now.

Well, I dream of the dress I'd wear if I were to

 attend the Met Gala if I was ever to go.
